Description
This bold watch celebrates Vincent van Gogh’s (1853 – 1890) Irises, one of the Getty’s most exceptional paintings. In 1889, Van Gogh created almost 130 paintings, including this still life. The cropped composition, divided into broad areas of vivid color with monumental irises overflowing its borders, was probably influenced by the decorative patterning of Japanese woodblock prints. The variety of curved silhouettes bounded by wavy, twisted, and curling lines decorate this limited-edition watch face.
